Meet our founder
A message from Peter Lee
When I was a little boy growing up in South Korea, I watched in wonder as my mother created magic. She would make her homemade skin creams crouched down on the floor of our living room while looking over a large wooden bowl mixing all sorts of exotic ingredients from morning till night.
Looking back I wonder how this little lady could work so hard and give so much but still smile so brightly at the end of a long day. She was and always will be my hero.
40 years later, I am grateful for the opportunity and proud to continue my family legacy.
Saranghae means I Love You was founded in 2016 with one simple goal in mind; to share Korean Beauty and my mother’s passion with the world.
Our first product, the Saranghae Complete 5-Step Skincare Routine is still our most popular product. When we launched it in August of 2016, we certainly had more doubters than believers.
Why are you entering such an over crowded marketplace? How long will North American consumers continue to buy beauty products from Korea? What does Saranghae mean? I can’t even pronounce it!
I realized from these early conversations that we couldn’t be just another skin care brand. We had to be different.
We started with the idea of delivering highly effective, high quality products formulated from natural and botanical ingredients. But that was just the starting point. I was adamant that we had to deliver these products with exceptional customer experience.
Lastly, I decided that our foundation had to be traditional healing botanicals that my mother lovingly used all those years ago. For example, our Korean Sang Hwang Mushroom, a powerful antioxidant proven to slow down visible signs of aging. In this way, we uniquely combine cutting edge science with hundreds of years old traditions.
Being able to help millions of women worldwide feel beautiful everyday while paying homage to my mother’s life’s work is my dream and my passion.
Today, I am proud and extremely grateful to share Saranghae Means I Love You with you.
